Songwriting history
Mike started writing lyrics back in 1992 when he was influenced by Randy Travis, Garth Brooks, and Chris Ledoux. Most of his originals stories came from life experiences with family and friends where he wrote about anything from a party night out with friends to how he felt about his daughter turning sixteen years old. He started recording with Kenny Royster, “Direct image Studio” in Nashville in 1997 and has remained loyal to Kenny’s talents ever since. He was introduced to Brad Johnson & Killin Time Band at his concert in Laughlin and who has opened up for some of the best country artist in the industry. Greats like; Toby Keith, Chris Ledoux, Rascal Flats, Keith Urban and others. Mike began to write several songs for Brad, “Rodeo Man,” Bugging The Hell Out of Me,” I’m Not a Drunk” and many others. Brad Johnson “Killin Time” and friends (Guy & Patsy) inspired Mike to take the next step and get involved in co-writing with other artists.
Mike was signed as a writer by Dan Hodges Music in Nashville, TN in 2012 and spent over four years traveling to Nashville and writing with some of the best writers in Nashville. Writers like Chad Raymon, Billy Dawson, Amanda Martin, Steve Dean, Don Gatlin, Joe Collins, Young Guns Artist Phoebe Sharp, Chelsea Lena, Jason Duke, Zac Wrixon, Roger Jackson, Marcum Stewart, Bryan Edwards, Randall Clay, Jonathan Sura, Ben Reno, Whiskey Dawn’s Troy Ferris & Johnny Myers, Pete Best, Marty Dodson, Brianna Tyson, Rick Monroe, Beth Cayhall, Amara Hall, The Archers, Kimberly Paige, Lauren Daigle, Blair Mathews, Erik Kertes, Artist Jared Porter, Lacy Green, Lexi Lew, Mark Namore, Jaclyn Brown, Kelley & Troy, Carvin Walls,Trafton Harvey, Quinn Loggins, Keirsten Hedden, Kyle Coulahan, Mohave County Artist and song writer Brianna Payne. In 2013, Mike co-wrote a song with Country Artist, Christie Lamb which was released on her, All She Wrote” Album early this year. The song, “He’s the Trouble” was co-wrote with Christie, Marcum Stewart, and Jonathan Sura.
In 2014 Mike co-wrote “Tall Glass of You” with Nashville’s songwriter/Artist Steve Lester for Canadian Artist Jason Kerkness.

Mike is a member of the ASCAP family and recently established, “Spotted frog Publishing.” He helped develop the Hualapai Writers Retreat /Showcase an annual songwriter week with a select group of some of the best songwriters in Country Music.
